JACKSON, Tenn. – The Greenjay softball team battled hard in their doubleheader against Lake Land College on Monday, securing a split with a thrilling comeback victory in game two.
In the opener, the Greenjays fell short despite a late offensive surge, dropping the game 9-6. After trailing 4-0 heading into the sixth, the Greenjays exploded for six runs, led by key hits from Ivy Knight and Elizabeth Vales. However, Lake Land responded with a five-run seventh to reclaim the lead and seal the win.
The Greenjays bounced back in game two with a clutch 6-5 extra-inning victory. Ivy Knight led the offense with three RBIs, while Eva Stafford delivered a stellar complete-game performance in the circle, allowing just four earned runs over eight innings. The Greenjays rallied in the bottom of the eighth, sealing the win with a walk-off effort.
Jackson State will look to build on this momentum when they return to action on Wednesday in Tullahoma against Motlow State. First pitch is set for 12:00 PM.
